Nayib Bukele secures a landslide victory in El Salvador

Nayib Bukele, who likes Bitcoin, is probably going to be El Salvador's President for more time because his party is winning.

The votes are showing that El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has won by a big number. He might be President again. Bukele's government has been tough on gangs and was the first to use Bitcoin as official money in the country. Bukele is ready for more years as president. Nayib Bukele told everyone on social media that he won the election on February 4, 2024. He said his party, called New Ideas, got most of the votes and will have almost all the seats in the government group called theAssembly.

A newspaper, The Guardian, said he got around 83% of the votes. The latest numbers from El Salvador's top election group show that New Ideas got almost 1.3 million votes. The other big parties got a lot fewer votes. Bukele said he wanted to be President again in 2022, even though the country's rules said you can't be President two times in a row. But the Supreme Court said it was okay in 2021. Since he became President in 2019, people have liked what he is doing, especially his fight against gangs.

Bukele is known for supporting Bitcoin. In 2021, El Salvador was the first country to say Bitcoin is official money, even though some big groups like the International Monetary Fund did not agree. Since then, Bukele has been buying Bitcoinfor the country. A website says that El Salvador now has a lot of Bitcoin, worth over $121 million.

Bukele also started other projects for Bitcoin, like volcano bonds and he wants to build a Bitcoin City. If Bukele is officially the winner, his government will keep working on Bitcoin plans. They want to start using Bitcoin-backed bonds in the first part of 2024, said the Vice President of El Salvador.
