Ethereum's ex-advisor seeks $9.6B in lawsuit against US for false charges

Steven Nerayoff, a former Ethereum advisor, has initiated a $9.6 billion lawsuit against the US government, citing wrongful prosecution and a range of serious accusations from 2019 to 2023, based on the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA).

He made the announcement on X, calling out government corruption and expressing gratitude towards Eleanor Terrett of Fox Business for highlighting his case, alongside his legal team including Michael Scotto and constitutional consultant Alan Dershowitz.

The lawsuit seeks damages for false charges and alleged mistreatment by federal officials over four years.

The suit accuses federal agents of knowing the charges were baseless and using intimidation and fabricated evidence under extortion charges, ultimately dismissed in May 2023. However, Nerayoff claims this ordeal damaged his reputation and business.

It details alleged abuses of power, including physical assault and unlawful detention, criticizing the federal government's disregard for constitutional rights to maintain a facade of legitimate law enforcement in the crypto space.

A remark by a federal attorney about covering up wrongful actions is cited as evidence of government misconduct.

Nerayoff's lawsuit is seen as a potential turning point, challenging the federal approach to cryptocurrency law enforcement and highlighting the need for a reassessment of justice and constitutional rights in the industry.

The case underscores systemic flaws in how crypto cases are handled, advocating for reform in governmental actions towards the industry.
