Worldcoin's World App hits 10 million users, boosting global crypto engagement

Worldcoin's first native wallet, the World App, swiftly reached 10 million users since its debut in May 2023.

It provides essential self-custodial services and is globally compatible with World ID.

The app grew significantly quickly, reaching 4 million downloads by November 2023. It now serves users in over 160 countries and processes over 70 million transactions.

It has become a top self-custodial wallet, managing an average of 7.1 transactions per second.

Tiago Sada, TFH's Head of Product, hailed this achievement.

He highlighted that the milestone demonstrates the app's role in making Ethereum's core technologies accessible and user-friendly.

He emphasized the app's focus on simplicity and efficiency.

The World App is designed to streamline cryptocurrency usage, concentrating on essential features of Worldcoin and Ethereum.

It supports identity verification via World ID, allows fee-free transactions worldwide, and facilitates crypto swaps and access to Worldcoin Grants.

It caters to a broad range of users, supports most mobile devices, provides gas-free transactions, and offers customer support in over ten languages.

Remco Bloemen, head of blockchain at the Worldcoin Foundation, lauded the app's influence on broader adoption and innovation.

He looks forward to developing more wallets to cater to varying user needs and aims for greater decentralization and accessibility.

A notable story from Kenya illustrates the app’s profound impact, where a user managed to purchase a goat using Worldcoin.

This event led to additional donations that enabled the purchase of more livestock, showcasing the transformative potential of cryptocurrencies.

With over 10 million users, TFH continues to demonstrate cryptocurrency's significant capabilities in enhancing global economic engagement.

This progress is made amid some concerns about Worldcoin’s data collection practices, but the organization has taken steps toward greater transparency by open-sourcing its code and undergoing a security audit.
