Liquid Solana Derivative (LSD)
What is Liquid Solana Derivative?
Liquid Solana Derivative (LSD) is a decentralized finance (DeFi) project launched on the Solana blockchain. It aims to provide liquid staking solutions for Solana (SOL) holders, allowing users to stake their assets while still maintaining liquidity. By utilizing LSD, users can stake their SOL tokens and receive a derivative token in return, which can be used in various DeFi applications, thereby enhancing capital efficiency. The project operates on the Solana blockchain, leveraging its high throughput and low transaction costs to facilitate seamless staking and trading of derivative tokens. The native token, LSD, serves multiple roles, including acting as a medium for staking rewards, governance participation, and transaction fees within the ecosystem. Liquid Solana Derivative stands out for its innovative approach to liquid staking, enabling users to earn rewards while still being able to utilize their staked assets in the broader DeFi landscape. This unique feature positions LSD as a significant player in the Solana ecosystem, catering to users seeking both staking rewards and liquidity.
When and how did Liquid Solana Derivative start?
Liquid Solana Derivative originated in March 2022 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2022, allowing developers and users to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. Following successful testing, the mainnet was launched in September 2022, marking its initial public availability. Early development focused on creating a robust ecosystem for liquid staking on the Solana blockchain, aiming to enhance liquidity and usability for staked assets. The token's initial distribution occurred through a fair launch model in October 2022, which aimed to ensure equitable access for participants. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Liquid Solana Derivative's growth and integration within the broader Solana ecosystem.

Who is Liquid Solana Derivative designed for?
Liquid Solana Derivative is designed for developers and users within the Solana ecosystem, enabling them to leverage liquid staking solutions for enhanced capital efficiency. It provides essential tools and resources, including APIs and SDKs, to facilitate the integration and utilization of liquid staking derivatives in various applications. Primary users, such as developers, can create decentralized applications (dApps) that utilize these derivatives for improved liquidity and yield generation. Users benefit from the ability to stake their assets while maintaining liquidity, allowing them to participate in DeFi activities without sacrificing their staked positions. Secondary participants, including validators and liquidity providers, engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the network's security and decision-making processes. This collaborative environment fosters a robust ecosystem where all participants can achieve their financial and operational goals while enhancing the overall functionality of the Solana blockchain.
How is Liquid Solana Derivative secured?
Liquid Solana Derivative utilizes the Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are selected based on the amount of SOL they stake, which incentivizes them to act honestly, as their staked assets are at risk of being slashed for malicious behavior or failure to validate correctly. The protocol employs cryptographic techniques such as Ed25519 for digital signatures, ensuring secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography underpins the network's ability to verify transactions and maintain trust among participants. Incentive alignment is achieved through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network. Additionally, the slashing mechanism serves as a deterrent against dishonest actions, reinforcing the security of the system. To further enhance security, Liquid Solana Derivative undergoes regular audits and implements governance processes that allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making. The diversity of client implementations also contributes to the network's resilience against potential vulnerabilities.
Has Liquid Solana Derivative faced any controversy or risks?
Liquid Solana Derivative has faced notable risks associated with the broader Solana ecosystem, particularly concerning network outages and security vulnerabilities. In 2022, the Solana blockchain experienced multiple outages, which raised concerns about the reliability of applications built on it, including Liquid Solana Derivative. The team responded by enhancing their infrastructure and implementing measures to improve resilience against such disruptions. Additionally, regulatory scrutiny surrounding decentralized finance (DeFi) projects has posed a risk to Liquid Solana Derivative. The team has actively engaged with legal experts to ensure compliance with evolving regulations, aiming to mitigate potential legal challenges. Ongoing risks include market volatility and the inherent technical vulnerabilities associated with smart contracts. To address these, the project has committed to regular audits and has established a bug bounty program to incentivize community members to identify and report security issues. These proactive measures aim to enhance security and maintain user trust in the platform.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
