What is Gliese Coin?
Gliese Coin (GLC) is a cryptocurrency project launched in 2021, designed to facilitate decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions and enhance digital asset transactions. The project aims to provide a secure and efficient platform for users to engage in various financial activities, addressing the need for transparency and accessibility in the financial ecosystem. Gliese Coin operates on a native Layer 1 blockchain, utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism that promotes energy efficiency and scalability. This technology enables fast transaction processing and low fees, making it suitable for everyday use. The native token, GLC, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, staking rewards, and governance, allowing holders to participate in decision-making processes regarding the platform's development. What sets Gliese Coin apart is its focus on integrating advanced security features and user-friendly interfaces, which aim to attract both novice and experienced users. This positioning enhances its significance in the growing DeFi landscape, as it strives to create a more inclusive financial environment.
When and how did Gliese Coin start?
Gliese Coin originated in January 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in March 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. Following successful testing, the mainnet was officially launched in June 2021, marking the token's transition to a fully operational blockchain. Early development focused on creating a decentralized ecosystem aimed at enhancing interstellar communication and data sharing. The initial distribution of Gliese Coin occurred through a fair launch model in July 2021, which allowed participants to acquire tokens without the constraints of a traditional ICO or IEO. This approach fostered community engagement and established a foundational user base, setting the stage for Gliese Coin's growth and further development within its intended ecosystem.

Who is Gliese Coin designed for?
Gliese Coin is designed for a diverse audience that includes developers, consumers, and institutions, enabling them to engage with a decentralized financial ecosystem. For developers, Gliese Coin offers tools and resources such as SDKs and APIs, facilitating the creation of applications and services that leverage its blockchain technology. Consumers benefit from the utility of Gliese Coin as a payment method, allowing for seamless transactions within the ecosystem. Secondary participants, including validators and liquidity providers, play a crucial role in maintaining the network's integrity and functionality. They engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the overall security and decision-making processes of the platform. By catering to these varied user groups, Gliese Coin aims to foster a robust and inclusive environment that supports innovation and financial accessibility.
How is Gliese Coin secured?
Gliese Coin utilizes a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, participants can become validators by staking a certain amount of Gliese Coin, which incentivizes them to act honestly and secure the network. The protocol employs advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure authentication and data integrity. To align participant incentives, Gliese Coin offers staking rewards to validators for their contributions, while also implementing slashing penalties for malicious behavior or failure to validate transactions correctly. This dual approach helps to discourage any attempts at fraud or network disruption. Additional security measures include regular audits and a robust governance framework that allows stakeholders to participate in decision-making processes. The diversity of client implementations further enhances the network's resilience against potential vulnerabilities, ensuring a secure and reliable environment for all users.
Has Gliese Coin faced any controversy or risks?
Gliese Coin has faced some controversy related to its security protocols, particularly concerning vulnerabilities in its smart contracts identified in early 2023. These vulnerabilities raised concerns about potential exploits that could compromise user funds. The development team responded promptly by conducting a comprehensive audit of the smart contracts and implementing necessary patches to address the identified issues. Additionally, they launched a bug bounty program to incentivize community members to report any further vulnerabilities. In terms of regulatory risks, Gliese Coin has navigated scrutiny regarding compliance with local regulations, particularly in jurisdictions with stringent cryptocurrency laws. The team has worked to ensure adherence by engaging with legal experts and updating their operational practices accordingly. Ongoing risks for Gliese Coin include market volatility and potential regulatory changes, which are common in the cryptocurrency space. To mitigate these risks, the project emphasizes transparency in its operations and maintains regular communication with its community, alongside continuous security audits to bolster user confidence.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
