Floofy (FLOOFY) is a decentralized cryptocurrency project launched in 2021. It was created to provide a fun and engaging platform for users to interact with the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and digital collectibles. The project operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing its smart contract capabilities to facilitate transactions and interactions within its ecosystem. The native token, FLOOFY, serves multiple purposes, including transaction fees, staking, and governance within the Floofy platform. Users can utilize FLOOFY tokens to participate in community decisions and access various features of the platform, such as purchasing NFTs or engaging in community events. Floofy stands out for its unique blend of entertainment and blockchain technology, aiming to attract a diverse audience by combining gaming elements with NFT trading. This innovative approach positions Floofy as a notable player in the growing NFT space, appealing to both crypto enthusiasts and casual users alike.
When and how did Floofy start?
Floofy originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with its features and functionalities. Following successful testing, the mainnet was launched in September 2021, marking the token's official entry into the market. Early development focused on creating a user-friendly platform that integrates various DeFi functionalities, aiming to enhance accessibility for users. The initial distribution of Floofy tokens occurred through a fair launch model in October 2021, which allowed community members to participate without the barriers typically associated with ICOs or IEOs. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Floofy’s growth and the development of its ecosystem.
What’s coming up for Floofy?
According to official updates, Floofy is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade aimed at enhancing its scalability and performance, scheduled for Q1 2024. This upgrade is expected to introduce new features that will improve user experience and transaction efficiency. Additionally, Floofy is working on a strategic partnership with a prominent DeFi platform, which is targeted for completion in mid-2024. This collaboration aims to expand Floofy’s ecosystem and increase its utility within the decentralized finance space. Progress on these initiatives will be tracked through their official roadmap, ensuring transparency and community engagement as they move forward with these developments.
What makes Floofy stand out?
Floofy distinguishes itself through its innovative Layer 2 (L2) architecture, which enhances transaction throughput and reduces latency, making it particularly suitable for high-frequency trading and decentralized applications. Its unique consensus mechanism combines proof-of-stake with a novel sharding approach, allowing for efficient data processing and scalability without compromising security. The Floofy ecosystem is enriched by its focus on interoperability, featuring cross-chain capabilities that enable seamless interaction with multiple blockchain networks. This is supported by a robust set of developer tools, including SDKs and APIs, which facilitate the creation of decentralized applications and services. Additionally, Floofy has established strategic partnerships with key players in the blockchain space, enhancing its ecosystem and expanding its reach. Who is Floofy designed for?
Floofy is designed for consumers and developers, enabling them to engage with a decentralized ecosystem focused on community-driven initiatives. It provides essential tools and resources, including user-friendly wallets and APIs, to facilitate seamless interaction with the platform. The primary audience, consumers, can utilize Floofy for various applications such as transactions, governance participation, and accessing unique digital assets. Secondary participants, such as developers and liquidity providers, engage through creating applications, contributing to the platform's growth, and participating in governance mechanisms. This involvement allows them to influence the direction of the project while also benefiting from potential rewards. By catering to both consumers and developers, Floofy fosters a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and community engagement, ultimately contributing to a robust and dynamic ecosystem.
How is Floofy secured?
Floofy uses a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators confirm transactions and maintain network integrity. In this model, participants can become validators by staking a certain amount of Floofy tokens, which ensures they have a vested interest in the network's security and performance. The protocol employs cryptographic techniques such as Ed25519 for authentication and data integrity, ensuring that transactions are secure and verifiable. Incentives are aligned through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network, while slashing penalties are imposed on those who act maliciously or fail to validate transactions correctly. This discourages dishonest behavior and promotes a healthy network environment. Additional safeguards include regular audits and a governance framework that allows token holders to participate in decision-making processes, enhancing the network's resilience. The use of multiple client implementations further diversifies the ecosystem, reducing the risk of vulnerabilities and ensuring robust security measures are in place.
Has Floofy faced any controversy or risks?
Floofy has faced some risks primarily related to technical vulnerabilities and community governance issues. In early 2023, a security incident was reported where a smart contract exploit led to the loss of user funds amounting to approximately $1 million. The development team responded promptly by pausing the affected contracts and conducting a thorough audit to identify the vulnerabilities. They implemented a patch to address the exploit and initiated a reimbursement program for affected users. Additionally, there have been community disputes regarding governance decisions, particularly around token distribution and project direction. The team organized a community vote to address these concerns, which resulted in a revised governance model aimed at increasing transparency and user involvement. Ongoing risks for Floofy include market volatility and regulatory scrutiny, which are common in the crypto space. The team is actively working to mitigate these risks through regular audits, community engagement, and transparent communication about project developments and challenges.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
