Shiba Inu Reacts to WazirX Hack
Shiba Inu team addresses the WazirX hack, where trillions of SHIB were stolen, urging holders to stay strong and emphasizing the need for better security.
Shiba Inu, a popular dog-themed cryptocurrency, has faced a significant security breach at WazirX, a major Indian crypto exchange. Trillions of SHIB tokens were reportedly stolen, leading to substantial losses. Lucie, the marketing head of Shiba Inu, expressed her condolences to those affected by the hack, which resulted in millions of dollars being hijacked.
In recent years, cryptocurrency hacking has increased, causing billions in losses and exposing weaknesses in the crypto ecosystem. WazirX is the latest victim of such attacks. A few hours ago, hackers exploited WazirX, as reported by Lookonchain, a popular on-chain tracker on the X platform (formerly Twitter). The hackers stole over $230 million in various crypto assets, including Shiba Inu, Ethereum, MATIC, PEPE, USDT, and GALA.
Shiba Inu was the main target, with hackers taking over 5.43 trillion SHIB tokens worth $102 million. Lookonchain reported that WazirX’s wallet moved the stolen funds to an unknown address, 0x04b2. Since then, this address has been selling the stolen assets, including 640.27 billion PEPE tokens worth $7.6 million.
The security breach has alarmed cryptocurrency investors, especially those holding SHIB tokens on WazirX. Lucie from Shiba Inu addressed the SHIB holders affected by the breach.
"I sincerely hope all SHIB holders get their money back and WazirXIndia fixes this," Lucie said. She noted that while the amount of SHIB stolen is significant, it is small compared to the total volume of SHIB. Lucie encouraged the SHIB community not to lose hope, stressing the importance of unity and support. "Take this as an opportunity; I definitely will," she added.
Kaal Dhairya, a Shiba Inu developer, also expressed sympathy for the SHIB holders who were impacted by the hack. He voiced his frustration over the attack and urged the Shiba Inu community to stay strong. This incident highlights the urgent need for crypto exchanges to improve security and protect investors’ assets. Enhanced security protocols are essential to maintain trust in the digital asset industry.
In summary, the WazirX security breach has exposed the vulnerabilities in the cryptocurrency ecosystem and the need for better security measures. The Shiba Inu team, including Lucie and Kaal Dhairya, has shown support for affected SHIB holders, urging the community to remain resilient. As the industry evolves, protecting investors through robust cybersecurity practices remains crucial for exchanges and projects alike.
