Vitalik Buterin Speaks Out on X Account Breach, Issues Safety Alert

Vitalik Buterin addresses the recent attack on his X account, acknowledging that the hacker used a sim swap trick 

Vitalik Buterin, the brain behind Ethereum, recently faced a security issue on his X account, once called Twitter. 

Hackers tricked their way into Buterin's X account and shared fake links. Their aim? To cheat his followers. They used a sneaky digital art trick, called an NFT, causing many to lose their NFTs and crypto based on twitter post.

Many people online made fun or talked seriously about how even smart tech people can get caught in cyber traps. Some guessed that the hackers played a trick with Buterin's phone connection, known as a SIM swap, to get into his account. SIM swaps are sneaky ways to take control of someone's phone number. 

Buterin got his account back and told everyone that the guess was right. The hackers tricked T-Mobile, his phone company, to get his number. He warned everyone that using a phone number to keep accounts safe isn't always a good idea. Remembering this hard lesson, Buterin now uses "farcaster" for better safety. It connects to Ethereum, making it harder to break into.
