U.S. GDP Data Lands Onchain as Q2 Growth Slows to 1.5%
The U.S. Department of Commerce and Chainlink brought six official economic data feeds onchain, covering Real GDP, the PCE Price Index, and Real Final Sales across ten blockchains. The feeds delivered the advance second-quarter 2026 GDP estimate, which showed 1.5% annualized growth.

Commerce Department and Chainlink put six data feeds onchain
The United States Department of Commerce worked with Chainlink to publish official government economic data onchain. The figures come from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), the federal agency that measures national output and prices. Six new Chainlink Data Feeds now carry the data to blockchain applications, so software can read verified government statistics directly. The design removes the manual step of copying numbers from a government release into an application.
The feeds cover GDP, prices, and private sales
The six feeds track three BEA indicators, and each indicator appears in two forms. Real gross domestic product (GDP) is published as a dollar level and as an annualized percent change. The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers follow the same level-and-rate pattern. Developers can pull whichever version fits their application.
Advance data showed second-quarter growth slowed to 1.5%
The BEA released its advance estimate on July 30, 2026. Real GDP grew at an annual rate of 1.5% in the second quarter of 2026, which covers April, May, and June. That reading marked a slowdown from the 2.1% rate recorded in the first quarter. The BEA linked the quarter's growth to higher consumer spending, investment, and exports, partly offset by lower government spending. The onchain feeds carried this release to developers on the same schedule as the official publication.
Ten blockchains carry the feeds with each release
The data is live on ten blockchains: Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Botanix, Ethereum, Linea, Mantle, Optimism, Sonic, and ZKsync. The feeds update monthly or quarterly, in line with BEA release schedules. Chainlink Data Feeds hold an ISO 27001 certification and a SOC 2 Type 1 attestation. Chainlink said its Data Feeds have supported tens of trillions of dollars in transaction value over the past five years. The oracle network delivers the data to each chain without a central intermediary.
LINK traded near eight dollars at publication
LINK, the Chainlink network token, traded at $8.10 at the time of publication, down 0.3% over the past 24 hours and 3.0% over the past seven days (CoinPaprika, 1 August 2026). It ranked as the 21st-largest cryptocurrency, with a market value near $6.06 billion and 24-hour trading volume of about $151 million. It remained well below its record high of about $53 set in May 2021.
Commerce Department plans to publish more data onchain
The Commerce Department first announced the plan in 2025 and selected Chainlink and Pyth Network to distribute the figures. Official economic data can support decentralized finance (DeFi) risk tools, tokenized assets, prediction markets, and automated trading. The department has signaled plans to publish more economic data onchain over time. Each new BEA release updates the feeds automatically. The updates match the government's publication calendar.
