Tether blacklisted a Tron wallet containing 72 million USDT on 12 June

At 07:37 UTC on 12 June 2026, Tether froze 72,030,295 USDT held in Tron address TBzrPEsStbZAUx2SBhD4oHz8UW3FX9Ak9W. The USDT/USDC Ban List Telegram channel, which records Tether's freeze transactions in near real time, logged the action with a status of "Executed." Whale Alert on-chain data independently confirmed the freeze amount and the Tron network. When Tether blacklists an address, the smart contract blocks all outgoing USDT transfers from that wallet. Funds remain visible on-chain but cannot be moved by the holder. Tether has not issued a public statement on the reason for the freeze. No law enforcement agency has publicly linked the address to a named investigation as of 13 June 2026.

According to the same investigation, an additional eight million USDT was bridged to bitcoin and ether via the Near Intents cross-chain protocol. The frozen address TBzrPEsStbZAUx2SBhD4oHz8UW3FX9Ak9W held $72 million in USDT at the time of the blacklist action, according to ZachXBT. The origin of the 120.2 million USDT has not been confirmed by Tether or any law enforcement body.

Monero purchases linked to the wallet sent XMR to $438 intraday

According to ZachXBT, the entity behind the source wallet placed large Monero (XMR) buy orders before the freeze occurred. ZachXBT stated:

"The entity created Monero orders which caused the XMR price to spike from $330 -> $420."
