SpaceX begins Nasdaq trading at $135 in record IPO

SpaceX began trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under ticker SPCX on 12 June 2026. The company sold 555.6 million Class A shares at $135 each, raising $75 billion and valuing the aerospace and satellite business at approximately $1.75 trillion. No initial public offering (IPO) in US history has raised more. Goldman Sachs led the underwriting syndicate alongside Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Securities, Citigroup, and JPMorgan. SpaceX is also dually listed on Nasdaq Texas under the same ticker.

SpaceX SEC filing discloses bitcoin treasury entering public reporting

SpaceX's S-1 registration statement, filed with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), confirms the company held 18,712 bitcoin with a fair value of $1.29 billion as of 31 March 2026. The listing makes SpaceX subject to quarterly disclosure of its bitcoin holdings, gains, and losses for the first time. SpaceX spent approximately $661 million to acquire the position. The holding ranks SpaceX among the largest known corporate bitcoin holders globally, ahead of Tesla's 11,509 bitcoin. With SpaceX now a public company, shareholders gain indirect bitcoin exposure through equity ownership, and analysts tracking corporate BTC adoption have a new quarterly data point in SEC filings.

Backpack Securities and Ondo Finance bring SPCX on-chain at listing

Two regulated platforms activated tokenized SpaceX equity on the same day SPCX began Nasdaq trading. Backpack Securities issued a Solana-native token backed one-to-one by underlying SpaceX shares held in regulated custody. Holders can redeem tokens for the underlying equity and transfer shares to traditional brokerages via standard brokerage transfer rails. SunriseDefi built the on-chain issuance infrastructure, with Meteora seeding the liquidity layer. Ondo Finance launched SPCXon through its Global Markets platform on Ethereum and Solana as a 1:1 total-return tracker, available to non-US users who can mint and redeem through wallets including MetaMask. Ondo publishes daily custody attestations once live.

Kraken xStocks and Hyperliquid perp complete the on-chain equity stack

Kraken activated SPCXx through its xStocks framework, issued by Backed Assets (JE) Limited and backed one-to-one by SpaceX shares in regulated third-party custody. The token is available in more than 110 countries, excluding the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, and trades around the clock across xStocks Alliance venues. Bybit joined the same infrastructure with its own SPCXx offering. On the derivatives side, the Hyperliquid SPCX perpetual contract, deployed by Trade.xyz on 18 May 2026, carried more than $190 million in open interest before the Nasdaq open. The contract converted to a standard stock-linked perpetual once Nasdaq trading began.

Bitcoin traded at $63,442 at time of publication

Bitcoin (BTC) traded at $63,442 on 12 June 2026, up 0.94% in the past 24 hours (CoinPaprika, 12 June 2026). At that price, SpaceX's 18,712-bitcoin holding is worth approximately $1.19 billion. SpaceX will disclose its bitcoin balance, cost basis, and fair-value changes in each quarterly report, following the same reporting standard that applies to other public corporate bitcoin holders. The first post-IPO quarterly disclosure covers the period ending 30 June 2026.
