Shiba Inu launches the WHY Combinator initiative with 36 new tech tools to drive Web3 innovation, expand BONE utility, and attract developers.

Shiba Inu’s lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, has announced the introduction of the WHY Combinator initiative, a decentralized program aimed at driving innovation and adoption within the Shiba Inu ecosystem. This effort seeks to empower projects while expanding the utility of the ecosystem's BONE token.

In a blog update on January 11, Kusama detailed the program’s goals and highlighted recent developments. Central to the initiative is the creation of over 30 tech tools, referred to as the 36 Chambers of Tech, which focus on artificial intelligence, Web3 gaming, and decentralized identity solutions. The WHY Combinator is designed to help developers utilize Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s Layer-2 blockchain, to create cutting-edge projects. The ultimate vision is to make “Powered by Shib” as widely recognized as global tech brands.

Kusama emphasized the versatility of the new tools, stating, “This stack can quickly and efficiently move anyone into Web3, making ‘Powered by Shib’ just as common as powered by Google.”

A key element of the initiative is the TREAT token, which stands for Transactional Rewards for Engagement & Access Token. This token will act as the settlement currency for WHY Combinator projects and boost community involvement through weekly TreatDrops. These TreatDrops are designed to reward engagement and attract activity across the ecosystem. Kusama noted, “This will invite users to explore our Metaverse, own Shiboshis, or engage with new protocols and projects. It’s truly transformative when paired with the access it provides for our Shibizens.”

Developers are also exploring ways to expand BONE’s role in the network. Currently used as the gas token for Shibarium, BONE may soon support Layer-3 (L3) solutions. These roll-ups would enable Shibarium to function as both a settlement layer and a data availability layer, similar to systems like Arbitrum and Optimism. If successful, Shibarium could become a hub for interconnected chains using Chainlink’s cross-chain features, positioning the ecosystem as a scalable and innovative platform for developers.

Despite skepticism from some corners, Kusama expressed confidence in the future of Shibarium. He dismissed criticism as attempts to undermine progress and stressed the team’s focus on delivering groundbreaking technology. Shiba Inu is committed to building a scalable and advanced ecosystem that attracts developers and fosters real-world applications for its blockchain infrastructure.

WHY Combinator’s tech tools, the TREAT token for rewarding activity, and BONE’s potential expansion into Layer-3 solutions mark significant steps toward enhancing Shiba Inu’s ecosystem. These developments underline the project’s ambition to cement its position as a leader in Web3 innovation.
