MoneyGram Opens Solana Cash-Out Across 170 Countries
MoneyGram launched its Ramps crypto-to-cash service on the Solana blockchain on 10 August 2026. The service supports cash deposits in more than 25 countries and withdrawals across over 170 countries and territories.

MoneyGram launches crypto-to-cash service on Solana
MoneyGram brought its MoneyGram Ramps crypto-to-cash service to the Solana blockchain on 10 August 2026. The service lets wallets, exchanges, and developers convert digital assets into local currency, and cash back into crypto, through MoneyGram's global payment network. Ramps handles both on-ramp and off-ramp flows, so users can enter and exit digital assets where they hold cash. The launch makes Ramps a multi-chain product, extending infrastructure the company first built on the Stellar network.
Cash network spans more than 170 countries
The Solana version of Ramps supports cash deposits in more than 25 countries. Cash withdrawals reach more than 170 countries and territories. MoneyGram serves about 60 million customers and operates nearly 500,000 retail locations worldwide. That physical footprint gives Solana users a bridge between on-chain funds and cash in local markets. Developers connect to the service through one application programming interface (API), rather than building separate cash networks in each country. The service moves value in both directions, letting users load crypto with cash or withdraw crypto as cash.
MoneyGram frames the launch as an access play
Anthony Soohoo, chairman and chief executive officer of MoneyGram, tied the launch to the company's broader network strategy.
"The future of payments is built on access. Every platform we connect expands the reach of our network. Every customer we serve makes that network more valuable. Bringing MoneyGram Ramps to Solana is another step toward building a truly open, global payments network.", 10 August 2026. — Anthony Soohoo, Chairman and CEO, MoneyGram
Rift becomes first Solana wallet to integrate
Rift became the first wallet on Solana to integrate MoneyGram Ramps. The integration lets Rift users move between crypto and local currency through a single connection to MoneyGram's network. Other Solana wallets and platforms can adopt the same service, since the company offers it through the shared API. Each new platform that connects widens the set of users who can reach cash through the network. MoneyGram described Rift as offering round-the-clock access to markets including equities, commodities, crypto, and forex. The single connection removes the need for each wallet to build its own cash-handling network.
Launch builds on validator role and multi-chain push
The Solana launch follows MoneyGram's decision to become a Solana validator in June 2026. A validator helps confirm transactions and secure the network in exchange for rewards. That step placed MoneyGram inside Solana's infrastructure months before this consumer-facing service went live. MoneyGram also runs Ramps as part of a wider multi-chain strategy that started on Stellar. According to CoinDesk, the company rolled out a USDC cash service with the Stellar Development Foundation in 2022, and announced its own MGUSD stablecoin on Stellar in June 2026. A stablecoin is a token designed to hold a steady value, usually pinned to the U.S. dollar.
