Crypto Leaders Push for U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve
Top crypto executives and lawmakers are pushing a bill that could see the U.S. build a one million Bitcoin (BTC)reserve.

More than a dozen crypto leaders will gather on Capitol Hill Tuesday morning for a roundtable hosted by Senator Cynthia Lummis and Representative Nick Begich. Their goal: to move forward the BITCOIN Act, which could create a U.S. "strategic bitcoin reserve."
Among the confirmed attendees will be Michael Saylor, co-founder of MicroStrategy, and Fred Thiel, CEO of Marathon Digital Holdings. They will be joined by other executives and policy advocates, including members of the Digital Power Network (DPN), to discuss the bill’s future and how to build bipartisan support.
The BITCOIN Act, reintroduced by Senator Lummis in March, aims to make Bitcoin (BTC) a strategic reserve asset for the U.S. The bill proposes acquiring one million bitcoin over five years using “budget neutral strategies.” It builds on a previous executive order by former President Donald Trump, which allowed the U.S. government to hold seized bitcoin and other digital assets instead of selling them.
Lawmakers are increasingly focusing on crypto regulation. This summer, Congress passed its first crypto-specific bill on stablecoins, and attention is now shifting toward broader industry rules. Supporters of the strategic reserve believe this move would strengthen U.S. economic security and innovation.
For now, the BITCOIN Act is still under review by the House Financial Services Committee and the Senate Banking Committee, with no hearings scheduled yet. At the roundtable, DPN will present a summary describing the bill as a “bipartisan opportunity”, though so far, only Republicans back it.
Other executives joining the discussion will include Haris Basit from Bitdeer, Brian Morgenstern from Riot, and Matt Schultz from Cleanspark. The session will focus on the next steps to advance the legislation and strategies for winning broader political support.
