Lighter Puts 100 More Markets on Chainlink as Volume Tops $1.7 Trillion

Key facts

  • Lighter added Chainlink price feeds to over 100 markets on 28 August 2026, on top of 25 already live.
  • The feeds price United States and Asia-Pacific equities, foreign exchange, commodities, and large-cap crypto.
  • Lighter has processed $1.7 trillion in cumulative perpetual volume on its Ethereum zk-rollup.

Lighter added Chainlink feeds to over 100 new markets

Lighter, a decentralised perpetual futures exchange, extended Chainlink price feeds to more than 100 additional markets on 28 August 2026. Chainlink is a decentralised oracle network that delivers external market data to blockchains. The move builds on 25 markets the exchange already ran on Chainlink, lifting its coverage above 125 markets. The new feeds price United States and Asia-Pacific (APAC) equities, foreign exchange (FX) pairs, commodities, and large-cap crypto assets. The announcement did not disclose the full list of new market tickers.

Data Streams deliver sub-second prices for equities and commodities

The integration relies on Chainlink Data Streams, a service built for derivatives that sends sub-second prices to an exchange's matching engine. That engine pairs buy and sell orders. The streams include 24/5 market-hours coverage for equities, meaning data flows 24 hours a day, five days a week. They also carry continuous pricing for commodities such as gold and crude oil. Chainlink runs Data Streams across more than 40 blockchain networks.

The feeds guard leveraged positions against manipulation

The external data targets discrepancies that can arise when leveraged positions are liquidated. Accurate feeds also reduce exposure to price-manipulation on thin, high-volatility markets. Chainlink's equity streams enforce trading hours and flag stale prices. The pricing supports liquidations, margin calculations, and conditional orders that depend on real-time inputs. On-chain derivatives platforms leaned more heavily on specialised oracles through 2026 as tokenised-asset trading grew.

A zk-rollup settles every Lighter trade on Ethereum

Lighter runs on an application-specific zero-knowledge rollup (zk-rollup), a design that proves and settles every trade and liquidation on the Ethereum network. Founder Vladimir Novakovski, a former Citadel quantitative analyst, built Lighter as an Ethereum layer-2 rather than a standalone chain. Protocol data shows the exchange has handled $1.7 trillion in cumulative trading volume. The exchange ranks as the second-largest perpetual DEX by trading volume, behind Hyperliquid. The Data Streams feeds also run on Lighter's deployment on Robinhood Chain. That carries the same pricing to a second venue.

The oracle partnership dates to a November 2025 deal

Lighter first named Chainlink Data Streams its official oracle for real-world asset (RWA) markets in November 2025. That first deal covered commodities, equities, and foreign exchange pricing. During July and August 2026, the exchange removed fixed caps on external indices for instruments such as SPY, QQQ, and individual technology stocks. It now draws those quotes directly from the decentralised feeds. The roadmap points to more international equity pairs and links to additional Ethereum-connected networks toward the fourth quarter of 2026. Lighter frames these as planned steps rather than confirmed launches.

Lighter's founder set out the rationale for the partnership when the exchange integrated Chainlink's 24/5 equity feeds earlier in 2026.

"We're excited to expand our partnership with Chainlink as Lighter's official oracle solution for RWA markets by integrating 24/5 U.S. Equities Streams. This enables us to extend our fair, low-latency perp execution beyond regular market hours without compromising data integrity.", 20 January 2026. — Vladimir Novakovski, Founder & CEO, Lighter
