Janus Henderson Invests in ENA and Deploys USDe in $480B Treasury
Janus Henderson, a $480 billion asset manager, bought Ethena's governance token ENA on June 9 through its ANTIK blockchain venture and began deploying USDe for treasury cash. Its tokenized CLO fund JAAA will be added to USDe's reserves, capped at $310 million.

Janus Henderson bought ENA and adopted USDe for treasury cash
On June 9, Janus Henderson, a $480 billion asset manager, made a strategic investment in Ethena's governance token ENA through its ANTIK blockchain venture. The firm did not disclose the size or price of the position. Alongside the ENA buy, Janus Henderson began allocating into Ethena's synthetic dollar USDe — including the staked version, sUSDe — as part of its treasury cash management.

The firm's CLO fund will back USDe reserves at $310 million
The partnership runs in both directions. Ethena will add Janus Henderson's JAAA strategy — a fund of AAA-rated collateralized loan obligations tokenized on the Centrifuge platform — to USDe's reserve portfolio. Ethena's risk committee member Llamarisk approved JAAA as an eligible reserve asset in June 2026 and capped the position at roughly $310 million. Ethena will also support distribution of JAAA to its institutional network.
The two firms plan regulated crypto ETPs for H2 2026
Janus Henderson and Ethena are co-developing regulated exchange-traded products tied to USDe and ENA, with launches targeted for the second half of 2026. Regulatory approvals and infrastructure remain outstanding. The deal follows a separate Coinbase Ventures investment in Ethena the previous week, which included a distribution agreement to bring Ethena products to Coinbase's more than 100 million users. Ethena currently manages about $5 billion in assets, down from a $15 billion peak during the 2025 market rally.
ENA fell 7% as markets processed the announcement
ENA dropped roughly 7% in the 24 hours following the announcement, sliding alongside broader crypto markets where Bitcoin fell more than 3% on the day. USDe is a synthetic dollar, not a fiat-backed stablecoin. Its stability mechanism depends on delta-neutral derivatives hedging, which carries different risk characteristics from instruments like USDC. Janus Henderson has been active in tokenization since at least September 2024, when it took over management of the Anemoy Liquid Treasury Fund, an $11 million vehicle investing in short-term US Treasury bills.
