Hyperliquid Hits Record 8.3% Share of Global Perpetual Open Interest

Key facts

  • Hyperliquid reached a record 8.3% share of global perpetual open interest against centralised exchanges.
  • HYPE traded near $74.62 on 17 June 2026, up 35% over seven days.
  • Binance, Bybit and OKX still hold most global open interest.

Hyperliquid reaches record 8.3% open interest share

Hyperliquid reached a record 8.3% share of aggregate perpetual futures open interest measured against centralised exchanges. The Hypeflows-tracked metric divides Hyperliquid's open interest by the global total across all venues, including Hyperliquid itself. Open interest measures the notional value of outstanding contracts. The figure offers a cleaner view of committed positioning than short-term trading volume alone. The new high marks another step in the move of derivatives activity toward on-chain order books.

On-chain order books gain ground on rivals

The record shows decentralised derivatives are taking measurable share from established trading venues. Binance, Bybit and OKX still hold most global open interest, so the shift remains at an early stage. The trend points to derivatives liquidity moving steadily from centralised platforms toward on-chain markets. According to recent market data, Hyperliquid's futures volume neared $240.5 billion over the past 30 days. Annualised fee revenue passed $1 billion over the same window, a sign of the platform's growing scale.

Rising share reshapes derivatives market structure

A larger share gives Hyperliquid more weight in how the derivatives market works day to day. The position is now large enough to affect liquidity routing, market-maker behaviour and collateral flows across venues. It has also drawn closer regulatory attention to on-chain perpetual trading. Bitcoin, HYPE and Ethereum rank among Hyperliquid's largest markets, which broadens the base of contracts behind the open interest figure.

HYPE price climbs as platform activity grows

The platform's token tracked the rising activity. HYPE traded at $74.62 on 17 June 2026, up 3.1% over 24 hours and 35% over seven days (CoinPaprika, 17 June 2026). The token's market value reached about $24.9 billion at that level. The combination of record market share and a strengthening token underscores the pace of growth across Hyperliquid's ecosystem.
