Dinari launched 724 tokenized U.S. stocks on 4 August 2026, covering the entire S&P 500, for eligible investors to trade through self-custody wallets. The tokens, called dShares, use Circle's USDC stablecoin and are backed one-for-one by shares held in regulated custody.

Dinari Puts the Entire S&P 500 Onchain for US Self-Custody Wallets

Key facts

  • Dinari launched 724 tokenized U.S. stocks, the full S&P 500, for eligible investors on 4 August 2026.
  • Investors trade the tokens, called dShares, from self-custody wallets using Circle's USDC stablecoin.
  • Each dShare is backed one-for-one by a real share held in regulated custody.

Dinari opens the full S&P 500 to US wallets

Dinari said on 4 August 2026 that it had become the first company to let eligible U.S. investors trade tokenized U.S. stocks directly from their own self-custody wallets. The launch covers 724 tokenized stocks, including every company in the S&P 500, and runs through a partnership with Circle. Investors buy and sell the tokens using USDC, the dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Circle. Dinari opened the same access to businesses in the United States, and its tokens already reached investors across more than 85 jurisdictions before this domestic rollout.

dShares stay backed by shares in custody

The company calls its tokenized equities dShares. Each dShare is backed one-for-one by a corresponding share held in qualified custody through Dinari's registered broker-dealer. The structure preserves traditional shareholder rights, including dividends, voting, and corporate actions. Dinari also added native USDC dividends, so eligible investors receive payouts directly in the stablecoin and keep the money onchain for faster reinvestment.

"For decades, investing and digital assets have existed in separate financial systems. This launch brings them together, allowing investors to move seamlessly between stablecoins and U.S. equities while preserving the protections of traditional capital markets.", 4 August 2026. — Gabriel Otte, CEO and Co-Founder, Dinari

USDC funds trades across four networks

The dShares launched on the Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, and Avalanche networks, with support for Solana and Sei planned next. USDC held its dollar peg at $0.9999 with a market cap near $72.14 billion at the time of publication (CoinPaprika, 5 August 2026). Broker-dealers, banks, and other institutions can license Dinari's application programming interface (API) to offer the same tokenized stocks to their own customers through one integration.

Dinari spent a year clearing regulatory hurdles

Just over a year ago, Dinari said it became the first tokenized-equity platform to secure this type of authorization in the United States. The offering runs through its own registered broker-dealer and transfer-agent infrastructure. According to CoinDesk, chief executive Gabriel Otte said the firm then spent roughly a year working with regulators on how an investor could send USDC from a wallet, fund a brokerage account, and receive a token matched to the underlying stock.

Tokenized stocks become crypto's next contest

Tokenized equities have emerged as the next test for real-world assets after tokenized U.S. Treasury funds. According to CoinDesk, the launch follows Ondo Finance's release of an SEC-aligned framework for tokenized stocks, a sign of rising competition. Dinari remains a smaller player: according to data from RWA.xyz cited by CoinDesk, the firm holds about $10 million in tokenized stocks within a roughly $2.2 billion sector.

Dinari flags limits on the new market

Dinari warned that markets for tokenized securities may be limited, which could make the tokens harder to sell at a desired time or price. The company said its launch would start with restrictions while it tests the USDC funding, brokerage, and settlement system under live conditions. According to CoinDesk, Otte described those limits as operational safeguards before wider access.
