Crypto.com opens tokenised access to 1,500 US stocks
Crypto.com began offering tokenised derivatives that track 1,500 US stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on Wednesday. Eligible users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and other approved markets can gain exposure to shares such as Apple, Nvidia and Tesla, plus commodity ETFs including SPDR Gold Shares and iShares Silver Trust. Positions start at $1 and trade around the clock. The exchange, which says it serves more than 150 million customers, added that the products support fractional positions and fast settlement, and it is offering zero-commission trading for a limited introductory period.
Products track prices without granting share ownership
The instruments are derivatives issued by Foris Capital CY Limited that reference the price of the underlying assets. Holders gain synthetic exposure: if a stock rises, the matching product is designed to follow that move. Investors do not acquire legal ownership or voting rights, though they may receive dividend-equivalent adjustments, according to Crypto.com.
Alpaca custody underpins the hedging behind each product
The assets supporting the products are held with Alpaca, a US-regulated broker-dealer that Crypto.com said provides infrastructure for more than 90% of the tokenised US stock and ETF market.
"For Crypto.com, partnering with a market leader in this space supports the arrangements under which client exposure is hedged through corresponding underlying US shares and ETFs, helping users gain confidence in their Tokenized Stocks positions.", 12 August 2026. — Kris Marszalek, Chief Executive Officer, Crypto.com
A 2025 MiFID licence anchors the European rollout
The launch builds on Crypto.com's May 2025 acquisition of Foris Capital, which secured a Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) licence for regulated financial products in Europe. That licence followed the exchange's earlier Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) approval and lets it offer a wider range of securities and derivatives to EEA users. Foris Capital CY Limited is regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission and passports its services across the bloc.
Tokenised equities market nears $2.5 billion
Tokenised stocks have reached about $2.49 billion in value, up roughly 600% over the past year, according to RWA.xyz data. Citi estimated the wider tokenised securities market could reach $5.5 trillion by 2030, including $2.6 trillion in tokenised equities. Cronos (CRO), Crypto.com's native token, traded at $0.047 at the time of publication, up 0.8% over the past 24 hours but down 13.5% over the previous seven days (CoinPaprika, 12 August 2026).
Rival exchanges race to list tokenised stocks
Kraken, Bybit, Bitget and Robinhood have rolled out tokenised equity products for users outside the US, and the launch adds another crypto-native platform to that trend. The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), the backbone of US securities markets, has begun testing tokenised securities infrastructure, while Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange unveiled their own tokenisation initiatives.
