Coinbase Integrates Solana DEX Trading: Swap Tokens Without Listings

Coinbase adds Solana dex access

Coinbase now integrates Solana decentralised exchange (DEX) trading directly in its main application. Users trade Solana tokens through on-chain swaps instead of centralised order books. The feature connects to Solana-based liquidity pools and executes swaps on the Solana blockchain. Coinbase users select a Solana token pair, confirm the quoted rate, and sign a transaction that executes on-chain.

Trading tokens without formal listings

The new routing model covers tokens without formal Coinbase exchange listings, including newly issued Solana Program Library (SPL) tokens. Users search for a supported SPL token, review contract details, and then trade that token through a DEX flow inside the app. Coinbase continues standard customer checks under know-your-customer (KYC) rules and anti-money-laundering (AML) rules for account holders. This approach keeps account verification centralised while execution and price discovery occur on Solana.

The goal is to make the millions of new assets created on-chain immediately accessible to all users. — Andrew Allen, Solana Product Lead, Coinbase

Funding trades with usdc and fiat

Users fund trades with USD Coin (USDC), bank transfers, or debit cards. The system converts deposited fiat currency into USDC and then routes swaps through Solana DEX venues. Fees appear in the confirmation screen before each trade, including Solana network fees and Coinbase's trading spread. Settlement occurs directly in user-controlled Solana addresses connected to Coinbase accounts.

Launch date and rollout timeline

Coinbase presented the integration at Solana Breakpoint 2025 in Abu Dhabi. Early access begins the week of December 15, 2025, for selected users. Wider global rollout follows as Coinbase completes regional compliance checks and technical monitoring. Coinbase earlier introduced similar DEX access for assets on Base, its Ethereum layer-2 network, and now applies that model to Solana.

Impact on exchange and market structure

The integration narrows the gap between centralised exchanges and on-chain trading venues. Users stay in a single interface while trades execute on a public blockchain. Liquidity sits in DEX pools on Solana, but discovery and account management stay inside Coinbase infrastructure.
