Coinbase launches wallet infrastructure for AI agents

Coinbase launched Agentic Wallets on 11 February 2026. The wallet infrastructure enables artificial intelligence (AI) agents to spend, earn, and trade cryptocurrency autonomously without human intervention. The product builds on Coinbase's AgentKit framework, which the company introduced in November 2024.

Transaction protocol processes 50 million operations

The x402 protocol has processed over 50 million transactions since its launch. The x402 protocol enables AI agents to execute payments and trades on blockchain networks. Coinbase stated the protocol reached this transaction volume in partnership with payment processor Stripe.

AgentKit framework introduced in November 2024

Coinbase introduced the AgentKit framework on 8 November 2024. AgentKit provides developers with tools to build AI agents that interact with blockchain networks. The February 2026 Agentic Wallets launch extends AgentKit by adding dedicated wallet infrastructure for autonomous agent transactions.
