Cecabank Launches Crypto Custody Service with Renta 4 Banco as Client
Cecabank has launched its cryptocurrency custody service for financial institutions, with Renta 4 Banco as its first client. The service runs in collaboration with Bit2Me under the European Union's MiCA framework.

Cecabank activates crypto custody with Renta 4 Banco
Cecabank launched its cryptocurrency asset custody service for financial institutions on 11 June 2026. Renta 4 Banco is the first client and uses the platform to build its own crypto trading offering. Cecabank provides the technological infrastructure and assumes institutional custody of the assets. The bank, the leading securities-services provider in the Iberian market, extends its traditional custody and post-trading model into digital assets.
Bit2Me supplies execution under the partnership
For buy and sell operations, Cecabank relies on Bit2Me, which provides the execution platform, liquidity, and market access. The two firms have held a strategic alliance since May 2024. Bit2Me is a crypto-asset service provider (CASP) compliant with the European Union regulation known as Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA).
Cecabank holds Spain's first B2B MiCA licence
Spain's securities regulator, the CNMV, granted Cecabank the MiCA licence in July 2025, making it the first business-to-business custodian with this authorisation. The licence covers custody, reception and transmission of orders (RTO), and transfers. Cecabank is also registered with the Bank of Spain as a crypto-asset service provider.
Cecabank starts passporting to three EU markets
Cecabank has initiated the European passporting process to extend these services to Ireland, Portugal, and Luxembourg. The model lets banks offer crypto trading to their clients without building their own technology. The initial universe of crypto-assets covers Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and the stablecoin USD Coin (USDC), each adapted to the European regulatory framework.
"As a benchmark provider of custody services in the traditional space, at Cecabank we are taking a natural step by transferring our experience and our standards to the world of digital assets.", 11 June 2026. — Aurora Cuadros, Corporate Director of Securities Services, Cecabank
