Capital Doesn't Sleep: Backpack Launches 24/7 Trading for Real US Stocks

  • Each token is backed one-to-one by a real share in US custody and trades on the Solana blockchain.

Backpack opens a 24/7 market for tokenized US stocks

Backpack, a crypto-native exchange and wallet operator, opened a 24/7 trading market for tokenized US equities on 10 July 2026. The first listings cover SpaceX, Micron, and SanDisk. Each tokenized share is backed one-to-one by a real share held in US custody. The tokens trade on the Solana blockchain, and Backpack also offers the same stocks through standard brokerage access. The offering uses real securities rather than synthetic derivatives that only track a stock's price. Backpack described the launch as the first 24/7 market for real US equities.

The launch expands a rollout that began in June

The July launch expanded a rollout that started earlier in 2026. Backpack Securities went live in June, and SpaceX, trading as SPCX, was its first listing on 12 June 2026. Reports place the Micron listing on 22 June 2026. The July step added SanDisk and moved Backpack from a single stock to a multi-equity market. The company issued its own BP token in March 2026, ahead of the securities rollout. The staged rollout added stocks and infrastructure in steps rather than all at once.

SpaceX token leads Backpack's early on-chain volume

Since its 12 June 2026 debut, tokenized SPCX has drawn more than 10,000 on-chain holders and over $350 million in trading volume, according to Backpack. The company said SPCX became the most liquid and highest-volume tokenized SpaceX equity trading on-chain. That early traction set up the move to a broader, multi-stock market. The volume total reflects on-chain activity rather than trading through standard brokerage access. Backpack has not published comparable figures for the newer Micron and SanDisk listings.

Custody links the tokens to real shares

Backpack said the tokenized shares bridge one-to-one between traditional securities and their on-chain versions. Custody relies on established market systems, including the Automated Customer Account Transfer Service (ACATS) and the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC). Holders of the tokens receive dividends and corporate action rights. Corporate actions such as stock splits and dividend payments pass through to token holders. Backpack said settlement occurs immediately.

Solana price at the time of publication

The tokens run on Solana, a network that supports round-the-clock transfers between digital wallets. SOL, the network's token, traded at $76.72 at the time of publication, down 1.4% over the past 24 hours versus the previous close (CoinPaprika, 12 July 2026). Its market value stood near $44.7 billion, ranking it among the top ten crypto assets. On-chain trading also makes the tokens compatible with decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.

Backpack targets investors outside US market hours

Traditional US stock exchanges close on weekends and overnight. Backpack keeps the listed shares tradable at all hours through the Solana network, extending access for international investors outside US market hours. The model lets buyers move positions wallet-to-wallet without waiting for exchanges to reopen. Armani Ferrante, Backpack's co-founder and chief executive, framed the launch around continuous market access.
