BVNK Secures MiCA CASP Licence from Malta's MFSA

BVNK obtains Malta regulatory approval under MiCA

BVNK secured a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) licence from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) in February 2026. The licence operates under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework, which sets European Union rules for crypto-asset service providers. BVNK provides stablecoin payment infrastructure for enterprises. The MFSA approval allows the company to offer regulated digital asset services from its Malta base.

"We are delighted to have obtained our CASP licence in Malta, a leading hub for digital innovation. We've always had a positive relationship with the MFSA and we're excited to continue working with them, and to passport our digital-asset services to EEA members.", 15 February 2026. — Tina Meschino, General Counsel, BVNK

Licence enables passporting across 30 European states

The CASP licence grants BVNK passporting rights across all European Economic Area (EEA) member states. Passporting allows regulated financial service providers to operate in multiple European countries using a single licence from one member state. BVNK can now offer digital asset services in 30 EEA countries without obtaining separate regulatory approvals in each jurisdiction. The company operates from Malta and can expand its stablecoin payment services throughout the European market under this single authorisation.

"This news significantly strengthens BVNK's offering in Europe. With our MiCA and EMI licences in place in Malta, plus our direct access to SEPA, we can provide customers with a unique, fully regulated bridge between EUR payments and stablecoin settlement.", 15 February 2026. — Tina Meschino, General Counsel, BVNK

Company processes $30 billion annually with major partners

BVNK processes $30 billion in stablecoin payments annually as of January 2026. The company signed partnerships with Visa in January 2026, Worldpay in May 2025, and dLocal in June 2025. These partnerships enable stablecoin payment infrastructure for enterprise clients. BVNK provides regulated bridges between traditional currency payments and stablecoin settlement systems for its corporate customers.

ESMA review identified Malta authorisation process improvements

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) conducted a peer review of Malta's MFSA regarding Crypto-Asset Service Provider authorisations in July 2025. ESMA identified areas for improvement in the authorisation assessment process. The review found Malta partially met expectations in the authorisation process but fully met expectations for supervisory settings and resources. ESMA reported that some material issues were not fully resolved and some risk areas were not adequately assessed.
