  • The fund reached the mark about 10 months after its October 2025 launch, mostly during a market downturn.

Bitwise fund becomes first Solana ETF to pass $1 billion

The Bitwise Solana Staking ETF, which trades under the ticker BSOL, crossed $1 billion in assets under management (AUM) on 28 August 2026. It became the first Solana exchange-traded fund (ETF) to reach that level. The fund passed the mark about 10 months after it began trading in October 2025. BSOL holds Solana (SOL) and stakes all of its holdings. The fund locks the tokens with network validators to earn protocol rewards on top of price exposure.

Most inflows arrived during a market downturn

Bitwise reached the milestone while the fund's own shares traded well below their listing price. BSOL shares were down about 40% from their debut, according to the asset manager. Solana's price had also fallen far from its record high over the same stretch. Bitwise framed the steady inflows as a sign of investor conviction, because most of the money arrived during a weak market rather than a rally. The fund had waived its sponsor fee on the first $1 billion in assets during an introductory period. That step lowered the cost of early exposure.

Solana trades far below its 2025 record high

SOL traded near $104 on 29 August 2026, about 65% below its all-time high of $294 set in January 2025 (CoinPaprika, 29 August 2026). Its market value stood near $61 billion at that time (CoinPaprika, 29 August 2026). The token had risen roughly 45% over the past month, recovering part of its earlier losses. The two figures cover different windows: a steep decline measured from the January peak, and a sharp rebound measured over the past four weeks.

Solana ETF category has drawn steady inflows

The broader spot Solana ETF category has attracted about $1.7 billion in cumulative flows since these funds began trading in 2025, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. Total trading volume across the category has passed $13 billion over the same period. The segment has recorded few sustained stretches of outflows, even through the market's weak first half of the year. Bitwise's fund now leads that group by assets.
