Bitcoin ETFs Snap Two-Month Losing Streak With $172M July Inflow

Key facts

  • Bitcoin ETFs drew $172.4 million in net inflows in July 2026, their first positive month since April.
  • July 31 brought a $265.4 million outflow, the largest single-day withdrawal since July 13.
  • US spot Bitcoin ETFs still held $76.29 billion in net assets despite $5.29 billion of 2026 outflows.

Bitcoin ETFs returned to net inflows in July

US-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $172.4 million in net inflows during July 2026, according to SoSoValue data. The result marked the first positive month since April. It reversed two straight months of redemptions. In June, the funds posted the largest monthly outflow of 2026 at $4.5 billion. May and June together drained nearly $7 billion from the products. The July figure was modest by comparison. Still, it pulled the group back into positive territory after a difficult stretch. The reversal followed a stretch when investors pulled money for two months running. The inflow ranked among the smaller monthly totals the funds have posted this year.

Late-month selling tested the monthly gain

The monthly total held despite heavy selling at the end of July. On July 31, the funds logged a $265.4 million net outflow. That was their largest single-day withdrawal since July 13. Over the week ending July 31, the ETFs shed $61.53 million. The single-day figure stood out against steadier flows earlier in the month. The late slide trimmed the monthly gain but did not erase it. The funds stayed positive for July even after the final-day redemptions.

Only three months of 2026 stayed positive

March, April and July were the only positive months of 2026. Together they brought in a combined $3.46 billion in inflows. The four negative months — January, February, May and June — drove a combined $8.75 billion in outflows. Outflows outweighed inflows in four of the seven months reported. The June redemption alone stood as the largest monthly outflow of the year. July's return to positive flows narrowed the monthly count but not the yearly gap.

Yearly outflows still weigh on the funds

Across 2026, US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $5.29 billion in net outflows year to date. Total net assets stood at $76.29 billion at the end of July. Cumulative net inflows since the funds launched reached $51.32 billion. The $76.29 billion in net assets still dwarfs the year's redemptions. The large asset base shows that earlier demand still anchors the products. The 2026 outflows have chipped away at that total without reversing it.

Ether and XRP funds also drew inflows

Spot Ether ETFs took in $365.2 million in July, according to SoSoValue. Those funds still held roughly $1.1 billion in net outflows year to date. They had drawn $356 million of inflows in April. The July total for Ether funds topped that April figure. Spot XRP ETFs added $27.3 million in July. That lifted their year-to-date net inflows to $343 million. Both totals were small next to the Bitcoin funds' monthly swings. XRP products stayed positive for the year, unlike their Bitcoin and Ether peers.

The modest July inflow arrived while spot prices stayed well off their peak.
