Aave Ties Its Cross-Chain Future to Chainlink CCIP
Aave has made Chainlink CCIP its default cross-chain infrastructure, extending the protocol beyond GHO transfers and governance to power its Stable Vaults. The standard now handles deposits, withdrawals, and rebalancing across Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum.

Aave makes CCIP its default cross-chain standard
Aave, the largest decentralised finance (DeFi) protocol by total value locked, has adopted Chainlink CCIP as its default cross-chain infrastructure standard. The decision extends a relationship that already covered GHO stablecoin transfers and cross-chain governance. It now reaches the Aave App and the protocol's new Stable Vaults.
CCIP now powers Stable Vaults and the Aave App
The Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) handles messaging and token transfers in a single transaction. For the Stable Vaults, that covers deposits, withdrawals, vault rebalancing, and yield optimisation across Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum. Users move funds through one interface, without the manual bridge-and-deposit steps that separate systems require.
That single-transaction design lets actions and the assets they move travel together. A deposit, a vault reallocation, or a governance instruction carries its data and its value through one communication layer, rather than relying on separate infrastructure for each route. Aave governance runs through the Aave Delivery Infrastructure, known as a.DI, which lets proposals approved on Ethereum execute across the other networks where the protocol is deployed.
GHO transfers run across eight networks
GHO and Savings GHO already move over CCIP using Chainlink's Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard. GHO is available on eight networks, and the shared standard gives the stablecoin a consistent security model across each one. Aave describes GHO as a core part of its business, which raises the need for one security approach at multichain scale.
According to reports from cryptonews.net and Chain Grid News, transfers from Ethereum to supported layer-2 networks use a lock-and-mint model. For movements between other chains, CCIP switches to a burn-and-mint process designed to keep GHO's total supply and fungibility intact. Both outlets sourced the mechanism from Aave's own announcement.

Node operators and rate limits secure each lane
Each bridge lane is secured by at least 16 independent node operators, spread across different organisations, regions, and infrastructure providers. Native rate limits cap cross-chain exposure during abnormal conditions, sized to sustained historical flows rather than peak bursts. Aave applies the same risk standards, drawn from frameworks by LlamaRisk and Aave Labs, to its infrastructure and to listed assets.
AAVE token trades near 96 dollars at publication
The AAVE governance token traded at $96.02 at the time of publication, up 1.5% over the past 24 hours (CoinPaprika, 14 July 2026). Its market capitalisation stood near $1.45 billion. The token added about 4.2% over the past seven days (CoinPaprika, 14 July 2026).
The move builds on a six-year oracle link
Chainlink Data Feeds have served as Aave's oracle system since January 2020. CCIP runs on the same decentralised oracle network, so Aave's cross-chain operations inherit an existing security relationship rather than a new dependency. The protocol frames the expansion as a wider use of infrastructure it already relied on.
