What is XSwap?
XSwap (XSWAP) is a decentralized exchange (DEX) platform launched in 2021, designed to facilitate seamless trading of cryptocurrencies. The project aims to provide users with a secure and efficient environment for swapping digital assets without the need for intermediaries. XSwap operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing smart contracts to enable automated trading and liquidity provision. The native token, XSWAP, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, governance participation, and liquidity incentives. Users can stake XSWAP tokens to earn rewards and participate in decision-making processes regarding the platform's development and features. XSwap stands out for its user-friendly interface and innovative liquidity pooling mechanisms, which enhance trading efficiency and reduce slippage. Its focus on decentralization and community governance positions it as a significant player in the growing decentralized finance (DeFi) sector, catering to both novice and experienced traders seeking to engage in cryptocurrency trading without centralized control.
When and how did XSwap start?
XSwap originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing early users to interact with the platform and provide feedback. Following successful testing, XSwap transitioned to its mainnet launch in September 2021, marking its official entry into the decentralized exchange market. Early development focused on creating a user-friendly interface and integrating liquidity pools to facilitate seamless trading. The token's initial distribution occurred through a fair launch model in October 2021, which aimed to ensure equitable access for all participants. These foundational steps established XSwap's ecosystem, setting the stage for future enhancements and community engagement.
What’s coming up for XSwap?
According to official updates, XSwap is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade aimed at enhancing scalability and performance, scheduled for Q1 2024. This upgrade will introduce new features designed to improve user experience and transaction efficiency. Who is XSwap designed for?
XSwap is designed for both individual users and developers, enabling them to engage in decentralized trading and liquidity provision. For individual users, XSwap offers a platform to swap tokens seamlessly and access liquidity pools, enhancing their trading experience. Developers benefit from XSwap's infrastructure, which allows them to build and integrate decentralized applications (dApps) that leverage the platform's capabilities. To support these primary users, XSwap provides essential tools and resources, including APIs and SDKs, which facilitate the development of custom solutions and enhance user interaction with the platform. Additionally, secondary participants such as liquidity providers and validators can engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the ecosystem's stability and growth. This multi-faceted approach ensures that XSwap caters to a diverse audience, fostering a collaborative environment for both trading and development within the decentralized finance space.
How is XSwap secured?
XSwap employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators confirm transactions and maintain the integrity of the network. In this model, participants can become validators by staking a certain amount of XSwap tokens, which allows them to propose and validate new blocks. This staking requirement not only secures the network but also incentivizes honest behavior, as validators have a financial stake in the system. The protocol utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography secures transactions against tampering and unauthorized access. Incentives are aligned through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network. Additionally, a slashing mechanism is in place to penalize validators who act maliciously or fail to fulfill their responsibilities, thereby discouraging dishonest behavior. To further enhance security, XSwap undergoes regular audits and has implemented governance processes that allow the community to participate in decision-making. This multi-faceted approach contributes to the overall resilience and security of the XSwap network.
Has XSwap faced any controversy or risks?
XSwap has faced some controversy related to security risks, particularly concerning vulnerabilities in its smart contracts. In early 2023, a significant exploit was reported, where attackers were able to manipulate the liquidity pools, resulting in a loss of funds for some users. The XSwap development team responded promptly by conducting a thorough audit of the affected contracts and implementing a patch to address the vulnerabilities. They also initiated a bug bounty program to incentivize community members to report any further issues. Additionally, XSwap has navigated regulatory scrutiny, as many decentralized exchanges face challenges related to compliance with local laws. The team has been proactive in engaging with legal advisors to ensure adherence to evolving regulations, thus mitigating potential legal risks. Ongoing risks for XSwap include market volatility and technical vulnerabilities inherent in decentralized finance platforms. The team continues to focus on transparency and regular audits to enhance security and maintain user trust.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
