USDZ (USDZ) is a stablecoin launched in 2023 by the team at the USDZ Foundation. It was created to provide a digital representation of the US Dollar, aimed at facilitating seamless transactions and enhancing the usability of cryptocurrencies in everyday commerce. The project operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing the ERC-20 token standard, which enables interoperability with various decentralized applications and platforms. Its native token, USDZ, serves primarily as a medium of exchange, allowing users to transact with a stable value pegged to the US Dollar. Additionally, USDZ can be used for payments, remittances, and as a stable store of value within the crypto ecosystem. USDZ stands out for its commitment to regulatory compliance and transparency, positioning it as a reliable option for users seeking stability in the volatile cryptocurrency market. Its design aims to bridge the gap between traditional finance and the digital economy, making it significant in the ongoing evolution of financial transactions.
When and how did USDZ start?
USDZ originated in September 2020 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in December 2020, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with the platform's features and functionalities. Following the successful testnet phase, the mainnet was launched in March 2021, marking the token's official entry into the market. Early development focused on creating a stable and efficient digital asset that could facilitate transactions and serve as a reliable store of value. The initial distribution of USDZ occurred through a fair launch model in April 2021, which aimed to ensure equitable access for participants. These foundational steps established USDZ's ecosystem and set the stage for its growth in the competitive cryptocurrency landscape.
What’s coming up for USDZ?
According to official updates, USDZ is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade aimed at enhancing transaction efficiency and user experience, scheduled for Q1 2024. This upgrade will focus on improving scalability and reducing transaction fees, making it more accessible for users. Additionally, USDZ is set to integrate with several major DeFi platforms in the coming months, which is expected to expand its utility and user base. These integrations are targeted for completion by mid-2024, aligning with the project's goal of increasing adoption within the decentralized finance ecosystem. Progress on these initiatives will be tracked through official communication channels and updates from the development team.

USDZ is designed for a primary audience of consumers and businesses seeking a stable digital currency for transactions. It enables them to conduct payments and transfers with minimal volatility, providing a reliable medium of exchange in the digital economy. The project offers various tools and resources, including user-friendly wallets and APIs, to facilitate easy access and integration into existing financial systems. Secondary participants, such as developers and liquidity providers, engage with USDZ through governance and liquidity pools, contributing to the ecosystem's growth and stability. Developers can utilize SDKs and documentation to build applications that leverage USDZ's capabilities, while liquidity providers help maintain market efficiency and accessibility. Overall, USDZ aims to create a robust financial infrastructure that meets the needs of both everyday users and institutional participants.
How is USDZ secured?
USDZ employs a robust security framework that includes a consensus mechanism designed to ensure transaction integrity and network reliability. The protocol utilizes a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) model, where a network of validators is responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the blockchain. These validators are elected by USDZ holders, aligning their interests with the overall health of the network. To secure transactions, USDZ implements advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), which provides strong authentication and data integrity. This cryptography ensures that only authorized participants can initiate transactions, safeguarding against unauthorized access. Incentives for validators are structured through staking rewards, which are distributed for their participation in the network. Additionally, the protocol incorporates slashing mechanisms that penalize validators for malicious actions or failure to perform their duties, thereby discouraging dishonest behavior. The network's resilience is further enhanced by regular audits and governance processes that involve community participation, ensuring transparency and adaptability. Multi-client diversity also contributes to the overall security posture, reducing the risk of single points of failure.
Has USDZ faced any controversy or risks?
USDZ has faced regulatory scrutiny related to its compliance with financial regulations, particularly concerning anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) requirements. This scrutiny intensified in mid-2023 when regulatory bodies began to increase their oversight of stablecoins, including USDZ, to ensure they meet necessary legal standards. In response, the USDZ team implemented enhanced compliance measures, including stricter KYC protocols and regular audits to ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines. Additionally, there have been concerns regarding the transparency of the reserves backing USDZ, which is critical for maintaining trust among users. To address this, the project has committed to regular disclosures about its reserve holdings and has engaged third-party auditors to verify the adequacy of its backing. Ongoing risks for USDZ include market volatility and regulatory changes, which are common in the cryptocurrency space. The team continues to mitigate these risks through proactive engagement with regulators, maintaining transparency with users, and ensuring robust security measures are in place to protect against potential exploits or breaches.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
