Stable Metal (STBL) is a cryptocurrency project launched in 2023, designed to provide a stable digital asset for various financial applications. Its primary purpose is to offer a reliable medium of exchange and store of value, addressing the volatility often associated with traditional cryptocurrencies. The project operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing smart contract technology to facilitate secure and transparent transactions. The native token, STBL, serves multiple functions within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, staking, and governance, allowing holders to participate in decision-making processes related to the platform's development. Stable Metal stands out for its innovative approach to maintaining price stability through a unique algorithmic mechanism that adjusts supply based on market demand. This feature positions it as a significant player in the growing sector of stablecoins, appealing to users seeking a dependable alternative for digital transactions and investments.
When and how did Stable Metal start?
Stable Metal originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with its features and functionalities. Following the successful testing phase, Stable Metal transitioned to its mainnet launch in December 2021, marking its official entry into the market. Early development focused on creating a robust ecosystem for stablecoin transactions, emphasizing security and scalability. The initial distribution of Stable Metal tokens occurred through a fair launch model in January 2022, which aimed to ensure equitable access for participants. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Stable Metal's growth and its integration into the broader cryptocurrency landscape.

Who is Stable Metal designed for?
Stable Metal is designed for consumers and institutions, enabling them to engage in stable and secure transactions within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. It provides essential tools and resources, including wallets and APIs, to facilitate seamless interactions and integrations. Primary users, such as individual consumers, can utilize Stable Metal for everyday transactions, while institutions can leverage its features for payment processing and financial services. Secondary participants, including developers and liquidity providers, engage through governance and staking mechanisms, contributing to the stability and growth of the ecosystem. By offering a robust infrastructure, Stable Metal aims to meet the needs of both individual users seeking reliable payment solutions and organizations looking for efficient ways to manage digital assets. This dual focus helps create a comprehensive environment that supports various use cases and fosters broader adoption of cryptocurrency solutions.
How is Stable Metal secured?
Stable Metal uses a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. Validators are selected based on the amount of Stable Metal they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This model incentivizes participants to act honestly, as their staked assets can be slashed or penalized in the event of malicious behavior. The protocol employs advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography safeguards transactions against unauthorized access and ensures that only legitimate participants can validate transactions. Incentive alignment is achieved through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their contributions to the network. These rewards encourage active participation and help secure the network against potential attacks. Additionally, Stable Metal incorporates regular audits and governance processes to enhance security and resilience, ensuring that the network remains robust and trustworthy.
Has Stable Metal faced any controversy or risks?
Stable Metal has faced regulatory scrutiny regarding its compliance with financial regulations in various jurisdictions, particularly concerning its classification as a stablecoin. In early 2023, the project encountered challenges related to transparency and the backing of its assets, which raised concerns among investors and regulators alike. The team responded by enhancing their compliance measures, including engaging with legal advisors to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, there were reports of minor technical vulnerabilities in the smart contracts that underpin Stable Metal, which were addressed through a series of updates and audits. The team implemented a bug bounty program to encourage community participation in identifying potential issues, further strengthening the platform's security. Ongoing risks for Stable Metal include market volatility, regulatory changes, and potential technical challenges, which the team aims to mitigate through regular audits, transparent communication with stakeholders, and continuous improvement of their security protocols.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
