SafeMoon (SFM)
What is SafeMoon?
SafeMoon (SFM) is a cryptocurrency launched in March 2021 by a team of developers. It was created to provide a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform that encourages long-term holding of its tokens through a unique rewards system. The project operates on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC), utilizing the BEP-20 token standard, which allows for faster and cheaper transactions compared to other blockchains. The native token, SFM, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, liquidity provision, and rewards for holders. Notably, SafeMoon employs a mechanism that penalizes sellers by imposing a 10% fee on transactions, half of which is redistributed to existing holders, incentivizing users to hold onto their tokens rather than sell. SafeMoon stands out for its community-driven approach and its focus on rewarding long-term investors, positioning it as a notable player in the DeFi space. Its innovative tokenomics and active community engagement have contributed to its significance in the cryptocurrency market.
When and how did SafeMoon start?
SafeMoon originated in March 2021 when a team of developers released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and mechanics. The token was launched on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) on March 8, 2021, marking its initial public availability. Early development focused on creating a decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem that incentivized holding through a unique tokenomics model, which included a 10% transaction fee—5% redistributed to existing holders and 5% added to a liquidity pool. The initial distribution of SafeMoon occurred through a fair launch model, with no pre-sale or initial coin offering (ICO). This approach aimed to ensure a level playing field for all investors. Following its launch, SafeMoon quickly gained traction, leading to a significant increase in community engagement and market interest. The project has since evolved, with ongoing developments and updates to its ecosystem.
What’s coming up for SafeMoon?
According to official updates, SafeMoon is preparing for the launch of its V2 upgrade, which is focused on enhancing the overall user experience and improving transaction efficiency. This upgrade is expected to be rolled out in the upcoming quarter. Additionally, SafeMoon is working on expanding its ecosystem through new partnerships and integrations aimed at increasing utility and accessibility for users. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to enhance the SafeMoon platform and foster community engagement. Progress on these milestones will be tracked through official communications and updates from the SafeMoon team.
What makes SafeMoon stand out?
SafeMoon distinguishes itself through its unique tokenomics model, which incorporates a 10% transaction fee on all trades. This fee is split into two parts: 5% is redistributed to existing holders, incentivizing long-term holding, while the other 5% is added to the liquidity pool, enhancing price stability. This mechanism aims to create a deflationary environment, encouraging users to retain their tokens rather than sell them. Additionally, SafeMoon operates on the Binance Smart Chain, which allows for lower transaction fees and faster confirmation times compared to some other blockchains. The project also emphasizes community governance, enabling holders to participate in decision-making processes regarding future developments and features. SafeMoon's ecosystem includes a range of tools and features, such as a wallet and a decentralized exchange, which enhance user experience and engagement. The project has also formed partnerships with various platforms to expand its reach and utility, contributing to its distinct role in the cryptocurrency landscape.
What can you do with SafeMoon?
The SFM token serves multiple practical utilities within the SafeMoon ecosystem. It is primarily used for transactions and fees, allowing users to send value and interact with decentralized applications (dApps). Holders can stake their tokens to contribute to network security and potentially earn rewards, while also having the opportunity to participate in governance proposals and voting, depending on the platform's features. In addition to these on-chain uses, SafeMoon offers off-chain benefits, such as discounts on transaction fees and access to exclusive membership rewards for token holders. Developers can leverage SafeMoon for building dApps and integrations, enhancing the ecosystem's functionality. The ecosystem also includes various wallets and marketplaces that support SFM, facilitating seamless transactions and interactions for users and developers alike. Overall, SafeMoon provides a multifaceted platform for holders, users, and developers, promoting engagement and utility within its community.
Is SafeMoon still active or relevant?
SafeMoon remains active through a series of updates and community engagement initiatives announced in recent months. As of October 2023, the project has been focusing on enhancing its ecosystem, including the development of its decentralized exchange and wallet features. The SafeMoon team has also been active on social media platforms, maintaining a strong presence to engage with its community and provide updates. In terms of market presence, SafeMoon continues to be listed on several exchanges, facilitating trading and liquidity. The project has also explored partnerships and integrations that aim to expand its utility within the DeFi space. Recent governance proposals have been put forth, indicating ongoing community involvement in decision-making processes. These indicators support SafeMoon's continued relevance within the cryptocurrency sector, particularly in the context of community-driven projects and DeFi innovations.
Who is SafeMoon designed for?
SafeMoon is designed for a primary audience of retail investors and cryptocurrency enthusiasts, enabling them to participate in a decentralized finance ecosystem. It provides tools and resources, including a user-friendly wallet and educational materials, to support their engagement with the token. The platform aims to empower users by offering features like tokenomics that reward holding and discourage selling, aligning with the goals of long-term investment and community building. Secondary participants, such as liquidity providers and developers, engage through mechanisms like staking and governance, contributing to the overall liquidity and functionality of the SafeMoon ecosystem. This inclusive approach fosters a community-driven environment where users can actively participate in decision-making processes and benefit from the growth of the platform.
How is SafeMoon secured?
SafeMoon utilizes a unique consensus mechanism known as the "RFI Tokenomics" model, which incorporates elements of reflection and liquidity generation. This model allows holders to earn rewards through transaction fees, which are redistributed to existing holders, thereby incentivizing long-term holding and participation in the network. The protocol employs standard cryptographic techniques, such as the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure transaction validation and data integrity. This cryptography safeguards user transactions and protects against unauthorized access. Incentive alignment is achieved through transaction fees that are partially allocated to liquidity pools and redistributed to holders, promoting a stable and engaged community. Additionally, SafeMoon has implemented governance mechanisms that allow the community to participate in decision-making processes, enhancing transparency and trust. To further bolster security, SafeMoon has undergone audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure the robustness of its smart contracts. These audits, combined with community governance and active monitoring, contribute to the overall resilience of the network against potential threats.
Has SafeMoon faced any controversy or risks?
SafeMoon has faced several controversies and risks since its inception. One notable incident occurred in April 2021, when the project was accused of being a potential scam or a "rug pull" due to its tokenomics and the lack of transparency regarding its liquidity pool. Critics raised concerns about the high transaction fees and the sustainability of its rewards system, which incentivized holding tokens rather than trading them. In response to these concerns, the SafeMoon team implemented measures to enhance transparency and community engagement, including regular updates and AMAs (Ask Me Anything sessions). They also initiated audits by third-party firms to validate the project's security and legitimacy. Additionally, SafeMoon has encountered regulatory scrutiny, particularly regarding its compliance with securities laws. The team has stated their commitment to adhering to regulations and has taken steps to ensure compliance as the regulatory landscape evolves. Ongoing risks for SafeMoon include market volatility and potential regulatory changes, which the team aims to mitigate through continuous development, community involvement, and transparency in operations.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).
