Moutai (MOUTAI) is a cryptocurrency project launched in 2021, designed to facilitate the integration of blockchain technology with the traditional liquor industry, specifically focusing on the production and distribution of Moutai, a renowned Chinese liquor. The project aims to enhance transparency, traceability, and efficiency within the supply chain of alcoholic beverages. Moutai operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing smart contracts to ensure secure transactions and data integrity. Its native token, MOUTAI, serves multiple purposes, including transaction fees, staking rewards, and governance, allowing holders to participate in decision-making processes related to the project’s development and operations. Moutai stands out for its unique approach to combining blockchain technology with a well-established traditional industry, positioning it as a pioneer in the intersection of liquor production and decentralized finance. This innovative integration not only aims to modernize the liquor supply chain but also enhances consumer trust through improved product authenticity and quality assurance.
When and how did Moutai start?
Moutai originated in April 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in July 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with its features and functionalities. Following successful testing, Moutai transitioned to its mainnet launch in October 2021, marking its official entry into the blockchain ecosystem. Early development focused on creating a decentralized platform aimed at enhancing user engagement and transaction efficiency within its targeted market. The token's initial distribution occurred through a fair launch model in November 2021, which allowed participants to acquire tokens without the constraints of traditional fundraising methods. These foundational steps established Moutai's growth trajectory and laid the groundwork for its ecosystem development.

Secondary participants, such as developers and liquidity providers, engage through governance and staking mechanisms, contributing to the network's stability and growth. Developers can utilize SDKs and documentation to build applications that leverage Moutai's infrastructure, while liquidity providers can participate in marketplaces to enhance trading opportunities. This multi-faceted approach ensures that Moutai caters to a diverse range of users, fostering a collaborative environment that supports innovation and financial inclusion.
How is Moutai secured?
Moutai employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. This model allows participants to stake their tokens, which not only secures the network but also incentivizes active participation. Validators are selected to create new blocks based on the amount of cryptocurrency they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. For cryptographic security, Moutai utilizes advanced techniques such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) to ensure authentication and data integrity. This cryptographic approach protects against unauthorized access and ensures that transactions are verifiable. Incentives are aligned through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their contributions to the network. Additionally, a slashing mechanism is in place to penalize malicious behavior or inactivity, thereby discouraging validators from acting against the network's interests. To further enhance security, Moutai incorporates regular audits and governance processes, ensuring that the network remains resilient and adaptable to potential threats.
Has Moutai faced any controversy or risks?
Moutai has faced regulatory scrutiny, particularly concerning its compliance with local laws and regulations in China. In 2021, the Chinese government intensified its crackdown on cryptocurrency-related activities, which raised concerns about the future of projects like Moutai that operate within the blockchain space. The team responded by enhancing compliance measures and engaging with regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to evolving legal frameworks. Additionally, Moutai has encountered community disputes regarding governance decisions, particularly around token distribution and project direction. The team addressed these issues by implementing more transparent governance processes and soliciting community feedback to foster a more inclusive decision-making environment. Ongoing risks for Moutai include market volatility and regulatory changes, which are common in the crypto space. To mitigate these risks, the project emphasizes transparency in its operations and maintains a proactive approach to compliance, regularly updating its community on regulatory developments and project status.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
