What is Mochi DeFi?
Mochi DeFi (MOCHI) is a decentralized finance (DeFi) project launched in 2021. It was created to facilitate seamless and efficient trading of digital assets while providing users with various financial services such as yield farming and liquidity provision. The project operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing smart contracts to enable automated and trustless transactions. The native token, MOCHI, serves multiple purposes within the ecosystem, including governance, staking, and as a medium for transaction fees. Users can stake MOCHI tokens to earn rewards and participate in decision-making processes regarding the platform's development and governance. Mochi DeFi stands out for its focus on user-friendly interfaces and innovative features that enhance the trading experience, positioning it as a significant player in the DeFi space. Its commitment to community engagement and transparency further contributes to its relevance in the evolving landscape of decentralized finance.
When and how did Mochi DeFi start?
Mochi DeFi originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. The project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with its features and functionalities. Following successful testing, the mainnet was launched in September 2021, marking its official entry into the decentralized finance ecosystem. Early development focused on creating a user-friendly platform for yield farming and liquidity provision, aiming to enhance accessibility for users. The token's initial distribution occurred through a fair launch model in October 2021, which allowed participants to acquire tokens without the constraints of traditional fundraising methods. These foundational steps established the groundwork for Mochi DeFi's growth and its subsequent integration into the broader DeFi landscape.
What’s coming up for Mochi DeFi?
According to official updates, Mochi DeFi is preparing for a significant protocol upgrade aimed at enhancing user experience and scalability, scheduled for Q1 2024. This upgrade will introduce new features designed to streamline transactions and improve overall platform performance. Additionally, Mochi DeFi is targeting the integration of new liquidity pools and partnerships with other DeFi projects, expected to be finalized by mid-2024. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to expand the ecosystem and increase user engagement. Progress on these milestones will be monitored through their official channels, ensuring transparency and community involvement in the development process.

Is Mochi DeFi still active or relevant?
Mochi DeFi remains active through its recent governance proposal announced in September 2023, which focused on enhancing liquidity pools and expanding its user base. The project has been consistently updating its platform, with the latest version released in August 2023, introducing new features aimed at improving user experience and security. Mochi DeFi continues to maintain a presence on various decentralized exchanges, facilitating trading and liquidity provision. The project is also integrated with several wallets and DeFi platforms, which supports its usability within the broader DeFi ecosystem. These indicators, including ongoing development, active governance participation, and strategic integrations, support Mochi DeFi's continued relevance in the decentralized finance sector.
Who is Mochi DeFi designed for?
Mochi DeFi is designed for a primary audience of consumers and developers, enabling them to engage in decentralized finance activities and create innovative financial applications. It provides essential tools and resources, including SDKs and APIs, to support the development and integration of DeFi solutions. Secondary participants, such as liquidity providers and validators, can engage through staking and governance mechanisms, contributing to the ecosystem's growth and stability. By facilitating access to DeFi services and fostering a collaborative environment, Mochi DeFi aims to empower users to leverage decentralized finance for various financial needs, from trading and lending to yield farming and asset management. This inclusive approach ensures that both individual users and developers can benefit from the opportunities presented by the DeFi landscape.
How is Mochi DeFi secured?
Mochi DeFi utilizes a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, validators are selected to propose and validate new blocks based on the amount of cryptocurrency they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This incentivizes participants to act honestly, as their staked assets can be slashed or penalized for malicious behavior. The protocol employs advanced cryptographic techniques, such as elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA), to ensure secure authentication and data integrity. This cryptography underpins the validation process, ensuring that transactions are both secure and verifiable. Incentive alignment is achieved through staking rewards, which are distributed to validators for their participation in the network. This reward system encourages active engagement and helps secure the network against potential attacks. Additionally, Mochi DeFi implements governance processes that allow stakeholders to participate in decision-making, further enhancing the network's resilience and adaptability. Regular audits and a focus on client diversity also contribute to the overall security framework of Mochi DeFi.
Has Mochi DeFi faced any controversy or risks?
Mochi DeFi has faced risks associated with smart contract vulnerabilities and liquidity issues, particularly during its early stages. In mid-2021, the project experienced a significant incident where a bug in the smart contract led to a temporary loss of funds for some users. The team promptly addressed the issue by deploying a patch to the affected contracts and conducting a thorough audit to enhance security measures. They also initiated a reimbursement program for impacted users to restore confidence in the platform. Additionally, Mochi DeFi has navigated regulatory scrutiny, as many DeFi projects do, particularly concerning compliance with evolving regulations in various jurisdictions. The team has been proactive in engaging with legal experts to ensure adherence to applicable laws and to mitigate potential risks. Ongoing risks for Mochi DeFi include market volatility and the inherent technical challenges associated with decentralized finance platforms. The project continues to implement robust development practices, regular audits, and transparency initiatives to address these risks and maintain user trust.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
