The project operates on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing smart contracts to enable secure and transparent transactions. Its native token, LABO, serves multiple purposes, including governance, where holders can participate in decision-making processes, and as a utility token for transaction fees within the platform. The Lab Finance stands out for its focus on user-friendly interfaces and educational resources, making it accessible to both novice and experienced users. This emphasis on community engagement and support positions it as a significant player in the evolving DeFi landscape, aiming to democratize access to financial services.
When and how did The Lab Finance start?
The Lab Finance originated in March 2021 when the founding team released its whitepaper, outlining the project's vision and technical framework. Following this, the project launched its testnet in June 2021, allowing developers and early adopters to experiment with its features and functionalities. The mainnet was subsequently launched in September 2021, marking the project's transition to a fully operational platform. Early development focused on creating a decentralized finance ecosystem that aimed to enhance user engagement and provide innovative financial solutions. The token's initial distribution occurred through a fair launch model in October 2021, which allowed participants to acquire tokens without the constraints of traditional fundraising methods. These foundational steps established The Lab Finance's growth trajectory and laid the groundwork for its ecosystem development.

Who is The Lab Finance designed for?
The Lab Finance is designed for developers and users within the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem, enabling them to create and manage financial applications with ease. It provides essential tools and resources, including software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs), to facilitate the development and integration of various financial services. Primary users, such as developers, can leverage these resources to build innovative DeFi solutions, while end-users benefit from enhanced access to financial products and services. The platform also caters to secondary participants like liquidity providers and validators, who engage through staking and governance mechanisms, thereby contributing to the overall stability and growth of the ecosystem. By focusing on these user groups, The Lab Finance aims to foster a collaborative environment that encourages the development of diverse financial applications, ultimately enhancing the accessibility and functionality of DeFi for a broader audience.
How is The Lab Finance secured?
The Lab Finance employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, where validators are responsible for confirming transactions and maintaining the integrity of the network. In this model, validators are selected to create new blocks based on the amount of cryptocurrency they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral. This incentivizes participants to act honestly, as their staked assets can be slashed or penalized for malicious behavior. To ensure data integrity and secure transactions, The Lab Finance utilizes advanced cryptographic techniques, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), which provides robust authentication and safeguards against unauthorized access. The network's incentive structure includes staking rewards for validators, which encourages active participation and secures the network against potential attacks. Additionally, The Lab Finance incorporates regular audits and governance processes to enhance security and resilience. These measures ensure that the protocol remains robust against vulnerabilities and that the community has a say in its development, further strengthening the overall security framework of the network.
Has The Lab Finance faced any controversy or risks?
The Lab Finance has faced risks primarily related to the broader DeFi landscape, including potential vulnerabilities associated with smart contracts and liquidity pools. In early 2023, the project encountered a security incident where a bug in the smart contract code led to a temporary halt in operations. The team promptly addressed this by deploying a patch to rectify the vulnerability and conducting a thorough audit of the code to prevent future occurrences. Additionally, The Lab Finance has been proactive in engaging with its community to ensure transparency and trust. They implemented a bug bounty program to incentivize external developers to identify and report potential vulnerabilities. Ongoing risks for The Lab Finance include market volatility and regulatory scrutiny, which are common in the DeFi space. The team continues to mitigate these risks through regular audits, updates to their governance framework, and maintaining open lines of communication with their user base.

What is Market depth?
Market depth is a metric, which is showing the real liquidity of the markets. Due to rampant wash-trading and fake activity - volume currently isn't the most reliable indicator in the crypto space.
What is it measuring?
It's measuring 1% or 10% section of the order book from the midpoint price (1%/10% of the buy orders, and 1%/10% of the sell orders).

Why it is important to use only 1% or 10%?
It's important, because measurement of the whole order book is going to give false results due to extreme values, which can make false illusion of liquidity for a given market.
How to use it?
By default Market depth is showing the most liquid markets sorted by Combined Orders (which is a sum of buy and sell orders). This way it provides the most interesting information already. Left (green) side of the market depth bar is showing how many buy orders are open, and right (red) side of the bar is showing how many sell orders are open (both can be recalculated to BTC, ETH or any fiat we have available on the site).

Confidence
Due to rampant malicious practices in the crypto exchanges environment, we have introduced in 2019 and 2020 new ways of evaluating exchanges and one of them is - Confidence. Because it's a new metric - it's essential to know how it works.
Confidence is weighted based on 3 principles:
Based on the liquidity from order books (75%) - including overall liquidity and market depth/volume ratio, volumes included, if exchange is low volume (below 2M USD volume 24h)
Based on web traffic (20%) - using Alexa rank as a main indicator of site popularity
Based on regulation (5%) - researching and evaluating licensing for exchange - by respective institutions
Adding all of these subscores give overall main result - Confidence
Confidence is mainly based on liquidity, because it's the most important aspect of cryptocurrency exchanges. Without liquidity there is no trading, illiquid markets tend to collapse in the long term. Besides liquidity - there is also an additional factor in calculation of score - market depth/volume ratio. If volume is huge (especially when it’s growing much faster than liquidity), and market depth seems to not keep pace with - it's reducing overall score. Exchanges that keep market makers liquidity with expanding volume are those that keep all ratios in-tact and have overall score above 75-80% (it means that they have all liquidity ratios above minimum requirements, high web traffic participation, and are often regulated).

Historical Market Depth is showing the history of liquidity from the markets for a given asset. It’s a measure of combined liquidity from all integrated markets on the coinpaprika’s market depth module.
